Re:NGC 2633
NGC 2633 is an SBb Sersic-Pastoriza galaxy, and belongs to the IRAS
bright-galaxy sample selected on the basis of high 60-micron flux density
(Soifer et al. 1987). VLA C-array observations at 20 cm show the main
component to have a flux density of 67 mJy and a northern extension
coincident with a dense spiral arm (Condon et al. 1990). Earlier radio
images of the central region show that it has a steep spectrum with
{alpha} ~ 0.8 and there are also suggestions of a ring-like structure
(Hummel, van der Hulst & Dickey 1984; Wunderlich, Klein & Wielebinski
1987; Condon, Frayer & Broderick 1991). Our 3.6-cm image shows evidence
of a number of compact components, with two of the well-separated ones
being listed in Table 1.

The bar in NGC 2633 is an oval within
which the current star-formation rate is high.
The luminosity distribution is neither amorphous,
as in the bar of NGC 1300, nor smooth
over most of the oval, as in NGC 2935, above.
The pattern is similar to that in NGC 210 (Sb;
panel 124), which itself could be classed an SBb
if its central disk were an oval rather than an
inclined circular disk.

Re:VV 519
Plate 24 Prechains and Chains of Different Age
MCG +12-09-013 = Arp 080 = NGC 2633; 12.8m.
3 or more galaxies with one or two "bridges" (at the left). All nearly
in contact. Bordered by an arc above and below and still further above
by a wide spiral arm. Similar to VV 243 and VV 495 in the plate 20.
The upper arc is terminated by zigzags, or by a chance projection of a
remote nest. Somewhat akin to the M 51 type. V_0_=+2382 (RC1).

Arp 80
SB(s)b (de Vaucouleurs)
In Arp's class "galaxies with large high surface brightness companions on arms"
Brightest in a group includes UGC 04581 at 8.2
Broad blue arms, central region not completely developed to bar
"End of one arm heavy; absorption break in same arm near nucleus" (Arp)
(Arp's class "galaxies with one heavy arm" appears more appropriate)

Re:NGC 2633
Very small, very bright nucleus. Bright bar with dark lanes:
0.7 arcmin x 0.25 arcmin in lens: 0.8 arcmin x 0.4 arcmin.
2 main, regular arms form pseudo (R): 1.9 arcmin x 0.95 arcmin.
Non-interacting pair with NGC 2634 at 8.2 arcmin.
Brightest galaxy in a group.
See HA, 105, 229, 1937.

Re:NGC 2633
HMS Note No. 047
Nuclear spectrum, absorption lines only.
HMS Note No. 048
Slit on bar.
Nuclear spectrum of absorption lines plus {lambda} 3727.
HMS Note No. 049
Faint emission region in arm that crossed slit 55 arcsec
[north] of the nucleus; only {lambda} 3727 measurable, and
since the nuclear spectrum lines are inclined,
its velocity was not used in the mean redshift.
