9 note(s) found in NED.

Re:NGC 3268
NGC 3268: dust filaments cover the region between 0.25" and 1.2". Nonetheless
the profile is characteristic of a core galaxy.

Re:NGC 3268
NGC 3268: This galaxy features rotation only at one side of the core
probably due to the presence of dust. It also has a parsec-scale radio
core (Slee et al. 1994). h_3_ proportional to v, indicating a disk
component (Bender et al. 1994).

Re:NGC 3268
A small disk of dust and ionized gas is observed in the inner 5" of this
galaxy. Note that the dust distribution is asymmetric with respect to
the major axis of the galaxy in the SE direction, the opposite is
observed for the ionized gas. The dust disk absorption can be seen in
the inner V isophote.

Re:NGC 3268
NGC 3268. NGC 3267, an S0/Sa system, lies only ~3 arcmin to the west, but
there is no evidence for any interaction, although the nearer NGC 3268A,
~60 arcsec to the northeast, may have a perturbing effect. There are no
significant features on any of the colour maps.

Like NGC 3309 on the preceding page, NGC 3268 is near the center
of the Hydra Cluster, which is Abell Cluster #1060 in the Abell
Cluster Catalog (1958). The morphology of the galaxy is prototypical
E2 class.
