UGC 5721 has the most extended rotation curve of this sample when the radius is
expressed in optical disk scale lengths. The last measured point of the rotation
curve is at 16.3h. The inner points of this rotation curve are uncertain,
because of insufficient angular resolution.

UGC 5721. This galaxy has been observed by both SMvdBB and dBB. Both H{alpha}
curves agree well with each other, and both show a steep rise in the inner 10"
that is not seen in the H I data.

UGC 5721 (NGC 3274)
This irregular galaxy has an elongated main body with very bright
HII regions making a bar-like structure. Another chain of regions,
to the east, looks like a second bar roughly parallel to the main
one; meanwhile another chain of regions looks like a spiral arm to
the west. In the central parts the isovelocity lines are almost
parallel and aligned along the main body, as observed in regular
barred galaxies. The shape of the velocity lines suggests a warp
of the disk, confirmed by the WHISP velocity field. As a result,
the PA of the major axis changes significantly between the center
(where it is about 125) and the outer parts (where it is about 95).
We adopted the intermediate value 100 for tracing the rotation
curve, which reaches a sort of a plateau around 80 km s^-1^. The
agreement with the HI rotation curve of Swaters (1999) is very
good but we reach the plateau at about 1 arcmin from the center
whereas the HI curve extends up to 4 arcmin.

N3274/U5721, N4395/U7524: In general there is excellent agreement
between the various raw data sets. The H{alpha} curves rise a bit
faster than the H I.

The galaxy has a considerable radial brightness gradient and many
nonstellar bluish knots. Its central region is shown on the insert of
Fig. 17. Three brightest blue supergiant candidates, #34, 40, and 35 in
Table 14, give us a distance modulus of 29.08, which is lower than the
estimate {mu}_0_ (3B) = 29.51 derived by Georgiev et al. (1997). We have
not found red stars in this galaxy.

NGC 3274 is resolved into individual stars
beginning at about B = 19. However, discrimination
of the stars from the HII-region candidates
is necessary before secure photometry of the
stars can be done.
The redshift is v_o = 486 km/s.
