NGC 3464 is shown in the Sc section here
rather than with the SBc galaxies because we
decided in preparing the RSA2 that the bar (or
central oval) is weak enough to ignore. However,
our sober second opinion is that the bar is strong
enough, as viewed at this favorable inclination
angle, to acknowledge. If the galaxy were viewed
from an angle such that the central near-ring,
which is almost complete, would appear circular,
the bar would be considered to be as weak as
those of others classed simply as Sc with arms
starting from the edge of the inner disk.
The redshift is v_o = 3571 km/s.
Small bright nucleus, pretty bright bar, knotty (r'): 0.6 x 0.5,
patchy arms with many knots. NGC 3472 not found.
The arms are very lumpy with several associations about 1 arcsec
diameter, although resolution at this level is not certain.
