The high-surface-brightness parts of each of
the two inner luminous arms in NGC 3888 begin
as dust lanes near the center. They become
luminous after about a quarter of a turn from the
center. The arms arc thin and do not branch into
as many multiple fragments outward as in the
prototype MAS pattern of M101. The pattern in
NGC 3888 is primarily two-armed throughout.
The redshift is v_o = 2454 km/s.
