Re:VCC 1303
VCC 1303 (NGC 4483).This galaxy appears to have two smooth spiral arms, first
noticeable extending from the central bulge at a distance of approximately 7"
from the galaxy's center. The arms extend in the east-west direction at first
(the major axis of the galaxy is at a position angle of 60^deg^), then bend
toward north in a clockwise fashion. The position angle and B4 and A4
coefficients all change outward of 10" because of the arms. There are no
features visible in the color image.

NGC 4483 is in the Virgo Cluster, near the
center of subeluster B (Binggeli, Tammann, and
Sandage 1987). The intermediate luminosity
zone (which is the bar and is well shown in the
insert) is tilted relative to the central bulge. It is
also tilted relative to the outer envelope (the
disk), which is the third zone. The pattern is
characteristic of SB0 galaxies. NGC 4483 is a
prototypical example.
