Re:NGC 5188
Dust in central region; location of center unclear; nucleus parameters
in Table 2 given for blue feature north of central red (dust) patch

The bar in NGC 5188 is suggested by a
straight luminous segment on one side of the
image. The form is unusual; NGC 5188 may not,
in fact, be a true SB spiral but rather may simply
have a semi-chaotic inner spiral morphology
where one of its features imitates a bar.
The redshift is v_o = 2107 km/s.

Re:NGC 5188
Plate 1375
Overexposed center, patchy lens, smooth arms.
Plate 1449
Very bright central part.

Re:NGC 5188
Outside the classification system.
No spiral pattern.
No pattern such as Im or Sm, but has intense emission-line spectrum
showing H{beta}, H{alpha}, [NII], and [SII]
(Sandage, A.R. 1978, A.J., 83, 904).
Clearly not E or S0 type.
A few knots exist in a moderately high-surface-brightness disk.
Could be a broken B-type barred spiral but need better plate.
