The spiral pattern is highly regular although
of the multiple-armed type. Some of the arms can
be traced for more than half a revolution as
individual fragments. Three arms can be said to
begin near the center. The two principal ones
emerge from the center in an (s)-type connection;
the third begins near the center and can be
traced for half a revolution outward. Other
fragments branch from these main arms farther out
in the disk.
The redshift is v_o = 1518 km/s.
NGC 5584. Bright star in field. The ellipse fitting results were
contaminated at faint levels.
SAB(rs)cd (de Vaucouleurs)
Multi-armed spiral structure with many blue condensations.
Short bright bar in a lens. Pseudo (r): - x 0.3 arcmin. Several
partially resolved, branching, filamentary arms. Very similar to M101.
