Re:NGC 5691
NGC 5691 (C)
This galaxy has a great deal of distributed, circumnuclear star
formation, although very few dust lanes. The nucleus, even at H, is
not distinct.

Re:NGC 5691
NGC 5691. - The rotation curve rises slowly, and the H{alpha} emission
is nearly symmetrical. The [N II]/H{alpha} and [S II]/H{alpha} are almost
constant except for the outermost regions.

Re:NGC 5691
In the R-band image, there is a dust lane northwest of the galactic
center. The H II regions are seen at the central region.

Re:NGC 5691
Bar is visible in both the ellipse fits and the K_S_image.

The classification of NGC 5691 is uncertain.
There is a suggestion of a bar in a region of
enhanced luminosity buried in the disk; hence
the S(B) tentative classification is given. A weak
spiral pattern exists together with dust patches
and knots which are presumed to be HII regions.
The chaos is high; hence the low luminosity class,
by definition, is assigned. However, the absolute
magnitude is still moderately bright at M_B_ = -20.3.
The redshift is v_o = 1768 km/s.

Re:NGC 5691
Very bright bar or core: 0.25 arcmin x 0.06 arcmin in a bright complex core or
lens: 0.6 arcmin x 0.45 arcmin with a dark lane. One smooth, massive outer
whorl. Strongly asymmetric.
Lund 9 dimensions are for the core only.
