### 6 note(s) found in NED.

 1. 1994CAG1..B...0000S Re:NGC 4782 VV 201 [with NGC 4783] 3C 278 E0(tides) H-2535-H May 4/5, 1948 103aO 30 min This pair of E galaxies within a common envelope is the strong radio source 3C 278. It is also VV 201 in the catalog of Vorontsov-Velyaminov (1977). A bridge of luminous material exists between the two nuclei. The inner envelopes of each galaxy deviate from circular symmetry; the distortion in NGC 4783 (the image to the right) is more pronounced. The large redshift difference is 656 km/s; the individual values are v_o(4782) = 3773 km/s and v_o(4783) = 4429 km/s. The angular separation of the pair is 46". Assuming a mean redshift for the system of = 4100 km/s, giving a redshift distance of 82 Mpc (H = 50), the projected linear separation is small at 18 kpc, explaining the large redshift difference as the high orbital velocity of a close pair. 2. 1976RC2...C...0000d Re:NGC 4782 = Holm 485a In 3C 278 = VV 201 Interacting pair with NGC 4783 at 0.7 arcmin, connected. 3. 1968MCG4..C...0000V Re:MCG -02-33-050 Paired with MCG -02-33-051 Interacting pair of radiogalaxies, with their main bodies in contact {rho} = 0.65 arcmin. NGC 4782 is the south-preceding galaxy in the pair. Identifications by Page, 1952 are in error (interchange NGC numbers). HA 88,4 dimensions are for the both galaxies together.
