Northeast-southwest red bar (or ring/disk) feature; red (dust) lane east of nucleus Pair [with NGC 7166] Sbc(rs)II CD-1584-S/Br Aug 11/12, 1980 103aO + GG385 45 min The spiral pattern in NGC 7162 is multi-armed in thick fragments that begin at the center. NGC 7162 forms a physical pair with NGC 7166 (S0; panel 34) at an angular separation of 11'. The redshifts are v_o(7162) = 2169 km/s and v_o(7166) = 2376 km/s. At the mean redshift distance of 45 Mpc (H = 50) the projected linear separation is 145 kpc. Plate 41r Small bright nucleus, broken (r): 1.0 x 0.4, faint patchy arms. Plate 1633 Overexposed center, probable (r'): 0.7 x 0.3, patchy arms with many faint knots. =ESO 288- G 26 in ESO 288- G 27 group Pair with NGC 7166 at 11.0 arcmin Type: deV - SA(s)c Bright middle.
