Notes for object NGC 0821

10 note(s) found in NED.

1. 2008A&A...487..485H
Re:KIG 0089
CIG 89. NED reports this galaxy as E6? In the optical and NIR images we see a
disk structure. The whole disk shows uniform colors in the B-I color map. The
total B-V color index is similar to the S0a/Sa types. Our classification for
this galaxy is S0.

Re:NGC 0821
A close to edge-on galaxy with a rapidly rotating disc-like component (see Paper
III) shows an enhanced core region in all metal line maps. There is also
evidence for the Mg b contours to be flatter than the isophotes. The H{beta} map
appears rather featureless (see also McDermid et al. 2005). The maps are
consistent with the results from long-slit spectroscopy of Sanchez-Blazquez
(2004).

Re:NGC 0821
No significant emission is detected in this close to edge-on galaxy. The HST
unsharp-masking image reveals a nuclear disc structure but no dust, consistent
with Ravindranath et al. (2001).

Re:NGC 0821
NGC 821: A close to edge-on galaxy with one of the most prominent
disc-like kinematics in the E/S0 SAURON sample revealed by its velocity
field (see also Bender, Saglia & Gerhard 1994; Scorza & Bender 1995;
Pinkney et al. 2003).

Re:NGC 0821
NGC 821: No evidence for dust is seen in the archival V-band image. The
features in the residual image are due to slight deviations from the Nuker
law fit. The high ellipticity and positive B_4_ values over most of the
length of the semimajor axis suggest that a disk is present.

Racine wedge
There is a most subtle suggestion of an incipient disk in NGC
821, shown by the slight sharpening of the outer isophotes on the
major axis.
The plate was taken with a Racine wedge giving secondary images
to the bright stars that are 5 mag fainter at a separation of 18". The
bright star in the upper left corner of this frame shows this
secondary image, as also does the galaxy itself (to the lower right of
the main body). Evidently NGC 821 has a very bright central
unresolved nucleus of apparent magnitude about B = 18.

Re:NGC 0821
NGC 821: A good case of "standard" diE with the disk embedded in a
spheroidal halo. A bright star precludes a far out analysis.

Re:NGC 0821
Prominent stellar disk along major axis. Isophotal structure similar in
all passbands. IRAS 100 micron detection.
