J1316-3338.-The core is 0.3 mas in size. There is extended structure to the
southwest and west.

B1313-333, a possible counterpart of 3EG J]314-3431 (z = 1.210, QSO,
Figs. 4b and 11) .-This source is very variable at the high radio
frequencies. The EGRET detections with (TS)^ 1/^2 >= 2 have been
made at the increase of millimeter-wave activity, from the end
of 1991 to the first half of 1993. The radio spectrum of B1313-333 is
extremely flat, ranging from {alpha}_5-90_ = -0.13 in the quiet state
and {alpha}_5-90_ = 0.27 in the active state. We consider B1313-333 a
likely counterpart of 3EG J1314-3431.

There is some confusion as to the redshift of this object in the
literature: Jauncey et al. (1982AJ.....87..763J) measured a redshift
of 1.21 from two lines at {lambda}{lambda}4232, 6166{AA} which they
identified as CIII] {lambda}1909 and MgII {lambda}2798. However, in
their Table 2 the redshift is quoted as 2.21, the erroneous value
picked up by Hewitt & Burbidge (1993, Cat. ) and PKSCAT90.
Veron-Cetty & Veron (1998ESOSR..18....1V) have the correct value
which we list here.

magnitude suggest that this source is grossly variable in the optical.

The redshift is based on two emission lines at lambda = 4232 A and
lambda = 6166 A detected by Jauncey et al. (1982) and identified with C
III] 1909 and Mg II 2798 at z = 1.210, as described in their notes on
individual objects. The incorrect redshift listed in Table II of Jauncey
et al. (1982) is obviously a misprint, which also appears in the
catalogue of Veron-Cetty & Veron (1991).
