1988ApJS...66..261K CO OBSERVATIONS OF ALL VIRGO CLUSTER SPIRAL GALAXIES BRIGHTER THAN B^0^_T_ = 12 JEFFREY D. KENNEY AND JUDITH S. YOUNG Five College Radio Astronomy Observatory; and Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Massachusetts Received 1987 July 21; accepted 1987 October 6 ABSTRACT We present CO J = 1 - 0 spectra at 45" resolution from over 200 positions along the major axes of 42 Virgo Cluster spiral galaxies, obtained with the 14m FCRAO telescope. Thirty-eight of these galaxies form a complete, blue magnitude-limited sample. From the major-axis observations we have determined global CO fluxes, radial distributions, diameters, and measures of asymmetry. Thirty-four of these galaxies have been detected in at least one position, and 25 have been detected in three of more positions. In most of these galaxies the distribution of CO emission is centrally peaked. However, there is one Sb galaxy with a central molecular depression, and one barred galaxy with a possible molecular bar. Two other galaxies exhibit CO asymmetries which may be the result of an ISM-ICM interaction. Subject headings: galaxies: clustering - galaxies: interstellar medium
