NED Abstract

Copyright by Royal Astronomical Society. 1989MNRAS.238.1055R Bright sources selected at 151 MHz - I. Some observations and identifications J. M. Riley Mullard Radio Astronomy Observatory, Cavendish Laboratory, Madingley Road, Cambridge CB3 0HE Accepted 1989 January 6. Received 1989 January 6; in original form 1988 November 29 Summary. High-resolution observations are presented of 44 extragalactic radio sources having flux densities > 6 Jy at 151 MHz. The Palomar Sky Survey prints have been searched for identifications and 11 new candidates have been found, in addition to the 11 already known. Two of the sources mapped, 1018+80 and 4C 38.27, are sufficiently bright to be included in the 3CR sample of Laing, Riley & Longair [S(151) > 12 Jy]; otherwise, as examination of the sources in the two regions of the 6C catalogue already published shows, the effects of confusion and resolution on the membership of the Laing et al. sample are very small. A sample complete to a slightly lower flux density [S(151) > 9.5 Jy] in the two 6C regions is presented and discussed briefly.
