We have analysed the far-infrared properties of an optically complete statistical sample of lenticular galaxies from the Revised Shapley-Ames Catalog of Bright Galaxies, using coadded IRAS observations. The sample consists of 32 S 0_1_, 6 S 0_2_, and 11 S 03 galaxies, a sequence indicating the presence of optical dust lanes. We restricted our analysis to a sample of 27 optically non-peculiar S0 galaxies brighter than B_T_ = 12.5, with a flux density limit of 0.25 Jy at 60 micron and 0.68 Jy at 100 micron. We find no significant difference between the 100 and 60 micron flux density ratios (a function of dust temperature) of the detected S 0_1_ and S 0_3_ galaxies, a slightly higher far-infrared-to-blue luminosity ratio for the S 0_3_ galaxies, and a 5 times higher global dust content (M_d_/L^0^_B_) for the S 0_3_'s, which show faint optical dust arcs. The observed difference in dust content suggests that the face-on extinction correction amounts to about 0.2 and 0.8 mag in S 0_1_ and S 0_3_ galaxies, respectively, consistent with optical estimates.
