1994A&AS..103..391M Global properties of dwarf galaxies. I. Galaxy sample and IRAS infrared flux-densities J.P.M. Melisse and F.P. Israel Sterrewacht Leiden, Postbus 9513,2300 RA, Leiden, The Netherlands Received July 1; accepted August 22, 1993 Abstract. - We have selected a sample of 278 dwarf galaxies for which at least B magnitudes and preferably also optical colour information are available. For those galaxies that have no previously published IRAS fluxes, we have used the IRAS database to extract fluxes or upper limits to sensitivity levels significantly better than those of the IRAS Point Source Catalog. New IRAS data include 79 galaxies detected in at least one band, and 66 galaxies with good upper limits. In total, about 60% of all dwarf galaxies in the sample now have been detected at 60/100 microns. Key words: galaxies: irregular dwarf galaxies - infrared emission
