Copyright by Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams. 2009CBET.1669A...1A Supernova 2009M in NGC 1028 Electronic Telegram No. 1669 Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams INTERNATIONAL ASTRONOMICAL UNION Kryachko, T.; Korotkiy, S. Abstract. SUPERNOVA 2009M IN NGC 1028 Ron Arbour, South Wonston, Hants, U.K., reports his discovery of an apparent supernova (mag 17.6) on unfiltered CCD images (limiting magnitude approximately 18.6) taken on Jan. 20.8819 UT using a 0.4-m f/5 reflector (+ Starlight Xpress camera) in the course of his supernova patrol. The new object is located at R.A. = 2h39m36s.48, Decl. = +10o50'27".9 (equinox 2000.0), which is 10".6 west and 9".4 south of the center of the galaxy NGC 1028. Nothing is visible at this position on Digitized Sky Survey plates from 1992 Oct. 2 (blue) and 1990 Oct. 24 (red). Following posting on the Central Bureau's unconfirmed-objects webpage, T. Kryachko, Kazan State University (KSU); and S. Korotkiy, Moscow, report that a 300-s V-band CCD image obtained on Jan. 21.646 with a Takahashi FRC-300 telescope (+ Apogee Alta U9000 camera) at the KSU Astrotel Observatory shows 2009M at mag 17.5 and position end figures 36s.57, 27".4 (offset about 8".8 west and 10".0 south of center of the galaxy NGC 1028); they add that nothing is visible at this position on a Palomar Sky Survey plate obtained on 1990 Oct. 24 (via the Digitized Sky Survey; limiting red mag 20.5), and they have posted an image of 2009M at URL http://www.astroalert.su/files/ngc1028psn.jpg.
