Search Objects Near a Name, Position, or IAU Style

Choose the type of search you want to perform (near name, near position, IAU).

Near Name Search: enter the object name and search radius (default is 1 arcmin). If you have constraints on redshift, object type, name prefix, cosmological parameters, and output format options, select them from the Search Options widget. Then press "Go".

Near Position Search: enter the coordinates and search radius (default is 1 arcmin). Choose the coordinate system and equinox.

Examples of supported coordinate formats are

  • 09h55m52.7s +69d40m46s
  • 09:55:52.7 +69:40:46
  • 09 55 52.7 +69 40 46
  • 148.969687d 69.679383d

If you have constraints on redshift, object type, name prefix, cosmological parameters, and output format options, select them from the Search Options widget. Then press "Go".

IAU Search: choose the Liberal or Strict interpretation (Strict is recommended, where a smaller field is searched). Enter the IAU-style name. Example input formats are :

  • HHMM+DD
  • HHMM+DDd
  • HHMMd+DDd
  • HHMMd+DDMM
  • HHMMSS+DDMMd

Then choose the coordinate system and equinox. If you have no further constraints on the search, press "Go". Otherwise, choose constraints on redshift, object type, name prefix, cosmological parameters, and output format options, select them from the Search Options widget. Then press "Go".
