8. HELIUM-STRONG B-TYPE STARS

The star, HR1851 in the Orion OB Association shows helium lines of exceptional strength. The spectral type of this star, as judged from its hydrogen lines is clearly near to B2 (which is the spectral type at which the He I lines reach maximum strength in normal stars), but the He I lines in HR 1851 are much stronger than in any normal star. Included for comparison is HR 1891, a normal B2.5 V star in the constellation of Orion.
