NGC 6340. - The van den Bergh classification of this galaxy is SaP or Snn; it resembles NGC 1302 and NGC 2681 in appearance and is the only Sa galaxy in this survey. There is fairly clear evidence of dust. At the point where the dust lane from the nucleus bends or joins an outer dust ring or spiral is an object just above the plate limit which appears to be an HII region.
