NGC 7479. - Burbidge et al. (1960b) have measured the rotation curve of this galaxy. They find that the bar is approximately 18.5 kpc in length (H = 75 km s-1 Mpc-1) and rotates with constant angular velocity. The dust distribution indicates that the western side is the near one; the velocities are such that the arms are trailing.
The dust and HII characteristics of the two spiral arms which emerge from the bar are quite different. The southern arm is thin with a fairly well-defined dust lane and string of HII regions. The northern arm branches out into several segments.
