1. INTRODUCTION

Adelman and Snijders (1974) compiled a bibliography of atomic line identification lists to supplement the data contained in the Ultraviolet and Revised Multiplet Tables (Moore 1945, 1950, 1952, 1962) and Kelly and Palumbo (1973) for the wavelength region lambdalambda911-8250 and the first four spectra of all elements. Three supplements (Adelman 1978, 1983, 1989) also included references to the fifth and sixth spectra of key elements through the iron peak. Table 1 lists references found in the literature since the last supplement was completed in January 1989. Each entry indicates the wavelength region covered in Å unless otherwise noted and the type of reference: A = analysis, AW = very accurate wavelengths, CL = classified lines, EA = extension of analysis, IS = isotopic shifts, NMT = new multiplet table, RA = revised analysis, TC = temperature classification, and W = wavelength list. The reader is advised to examine each reference to determine its quality. Several papers in particular deserve the reader's special attention. Gallagher (1993) unified Moore's H, C, N, and O atomic energy level and multiplet tables. Kaufman and Martin (1991a, b, 1993) compiled the spectral lines and energy levels for all known species of Mg, Al, and S, as have Kaufman and Sugar (1988) for Sc. Johansson and his associates continued their extension of the analyses of Fe I and Fe II. The new Fe I multiplet table by Nave et al. (1994) is an extremely valuable contribution. The revised analyses of S III (Johansson et al. 1992) and of Ni I (Litzén et al. 1993) are also quite useful.
