| Abstract | Measurements of the total light of 40 spiral and irregular galaxies are presented. The photometry covers the wavelength range 1550-4250 A and is calibrated on an absolute basis. On the average later-type galaxies are not only bluer at short wavelengths than ellipticals but significantly bluer than visual colors would imply.
