This section is devoted to the description of the standard format to store astronomical data and how to work with the files. A brief description of other data formats is also given at the end. The instructions for working and manipulating data will be given for IRAF, although other systems like MIDAS and Figaro can be used. The selection of the system depends on the support given to each one at the site at which the reader will be working.
