Colors of Galaxies

In the RC2 ([8] in Secondary Galaxy Catalogs) 959 galaxies have total (B-V) colour indices derived from multi-aperture data; 682 have (U-B) colours listed. These colours have been transformed either from original UBV observations, or from other similar colour systems as enumerated in Table 11 of RC2. Recent UBV photometry for additional galaxies: [37, 61, 122, 124, 212, 274]. A general catalog of photoelectric magnitudes and colors in the UBV system for 3,578 galaxies brighter than 16th mag [189].

IRAS colours of normal galaxies from the CGQ (= [29] in Secondary Galaxy Catalogs) are discussed in [130]; for UGC galaxies in [34]; for normal irregular galaxies in [147]; and for the IRAS bright-galaxy sample [252] by [46].

UV magnitudes and colours for 156 galaxies observed by the IUE satellite have been presented by [188], while data for other investigations have been summarized in [44, 92, 276]; 1910-Angstrom colours and magnitudes [91]. 25 very red [(B-V) > 0.7 mag], yet HI rich (log(MHI) / LB > -0.6), spiral galaxies [36].
