5.7 Evolutionary effects

Physical evolution (Sect. 2.3.3) may require magnitude, colour, and angular corrections. Examples are the apparently larger numbers of blue galaxies in distant clusters (Butcher and Oemler 1984) and light, colour, and angular changes in merging (starburst) galaxies.
